Apr. 1 – to June 3: The 11th DADA exhibition.  Thirty-seven artists will be there for the vernissage, Sun. Apr. 9, 2 pm.  Painters, sculptors, collage artists, graphic artists, artisans, wood creations, writers, and engineers.  Fifty works of art will be presented, each funnier than the other.

Sat. May 13, 8 pm:  Alex Nevsky - gained popularity, performing hundred-fifty shows, being chosen No. 1 on radio, and winning a Félix award.  He now comes with music from his recent album, performing with his musicians Alex McMahon, and Gabriel Gratton.  $38

Sat. Apr. 22, 8 pm:  Mentana Folk-Americana group from Montreal, they play to the train beat of Johnny Cash, as well as nostalgic piano sound, and harmonies reminiscent of Amerindian rhythms. $25

 

Sat. Apr. 29, 8 pm: Bob Harrisson the ex-drummer of the well known group Offenbach.  Plays the blues accompanied by his three musicians and two invited artists: Billy Craig with his harmonica, and Saxophonist from Cirque du Soleil, Bruno Dumont.  $30

Exhibitions:

Apr. 7 - May 15: Ateliers Croisés – by Mariette Rousseau-Vermette and Claude Vermette. This exhibition comes from the contemporary art museum of Baie-Saint-Paul.  It is a retrospective of this couple of Ste. Adele artists.

Music:

Sun. Apr. 23, 1:30 pm: Esprit du Blues - This group will sing the blues derived from the sad melancholic chants of the Afro-Americans while they worked.  Musicians: Chris Hunter (guitar), Pierre Perron (sax & voice), Roger Walls (trumpet & voice), Jeff Simons (drums & voice), and Jean Cyr (bass).  They will perform a variety of blues styles: from Chicago and Kansas City, Delta and Jazzy Blues, Rhythm & Blues, Boogie Blues, Country Blues and even a bit of Rock N Roll.

Dance:

Fri. Apr. 28, 7:30 pm:  Grand jeté d’encre - a show that unites poetry and dance with the intensity of words and movements performed by three dancers.  Daniel Bélanger Choreographed this piece to the words of author Anne Peyrouse.

Eugene Onegin – Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.  Conductor -Robin Ticciati; Tatiana: Anna Netrebko; Olga: Elena Maximova; Lenski: Alexey Dolgov; Onegin: Dmitri Hvorostovsky; Gremin: Štefan Kocán.  The opera is based on Pushkin’s iconic verse novel.  The girl in the story is Tatiana, who grows up during the opera story into a young women.  Pushkin’s novel presents an overview of Russian society around 1820, country life, rural gentry and, the aristocracy of St. Petersburg. $28

Sat. May 13, 12:30 pm:  Est. Run Time: 4 hrs. 12 Min. - Der Rosenkavalier – R. Strauss.  Conductor: Sebastian Weigle Cast: Marschallin: Renée Fleming; Octavian: Elīna Garanča; Sophie: Erin Morley; A Singer: Matthew Polenzani; Faninal: Marcus Brück; Baron Ochs: Günther Groissböck.  The story takes place in Vienna during the last years of the Habsburg Empire.  The story features Marsschallin, a woman of the world who is involved with a much younger lover but forced to give him up. Hofmannsthal’s libretto combines comedy, fantasy, human drama, and touches of philosophy and social commentary. $28

Apr. 22, 8 pm:  Louis Plouffe is a young virtuoso who will play Jazz music of Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, and Dizzy Gillespie.  Louis Plouffe plays the tenor saxophone since age 12.  He participated in Jazz festivals, played in a symphony orchestra, and is a member of the RC Jazz Ensemble.

 

 

 

Sat. May 6m 8 pm:  Raoul Sosa pianist will play music by Chopin, Debussy, and Franck.  Raoul Sosa is a pianist, conductor and composer.  He specializes in music from the Romantic era.  He has won many competitions, he performed solo with orchestras in America, Europe and Asia.

The amateur theatre group who toured successfully with “Grandpa Is Not a Cash Cow & Grandma Won’t Take Any Bull”; now presents a new piece “Les anges gardiens sont fatigués” dealing with care givers.  The first showings were the first week of April.   Théâtre des petits bonheurs, 523, rue Berry, Lachute, $5.  More to come!

Apr. 26 to May 17: Élyse Brodeur-Magna & Marie-Ève Martel - Winners of the Laurentian Visual Art Young Artists Competition. Vernissage: Apr. 26, 2 pm. Élyse Brodeur-Magna graduated from Concordia University in Montréal and holds her BFA with a major in sculpture. She has shown in Montréal, Ste-Thérèse, Sept-Îles, and Toronto. Marie Eve Martel studied at Concordia University, and did her Masters at the UQAM (Quebec University in Montreal) her paintings and installations are quite impressive, minutely executed and interesting.

Apr. 14, 8 pm: Boogie Wonder Band, 20th anniversary tour playing music from the years of Disco.  They will make us dance to the beat of the 70s.  This is the kind of concert that we “grey haired” people get up and dance to…forgetting to sit down!   Good for your spirit and physical health!  $39
