 Nathalie
Levasseur Invites Organisations to Take Part in her Artistic Project
Creating a Social Fabric
This fabric cord is in the making since 2008. The various social
organisations are invited to join in this artistic endeavour by
adding to the fabric already about 2000 feet long - a symbol for
durable connections to include every person including the physically
or mentally handicapped. Everybody should be integrated into the
social fabric.
The work will be done on a sofa in an ear shape, while part of the
fabric that already has been completed is covered. It is an
opportunity for a social activity while exchanging ideas about new
manners of achieving the goal. The artist is looking forward to
interacting and receiving input from participants.

Levasseur Wins the Laurentian Creative Award
The 22nd Annual “Grands Prix de la culture des
Laurentides”, took place in St. Jerome, on November 3rd.
The $5000 prize granted by the “Conseil des arts et des lettres du
Québec”, was awarded to Nathalie Levasseur, who lives in Val
David.
Nathalie Levasseur was selected by a committee of peers from
varied disciplines, for the quality of her work, her prowess in
basketry, and for striving to enhance awareness of art in the
community. Nathalie has exhibited extensively, in solo and group
shows in Quebec, Canada, Japan and Europe for the past eighteen
years. She has done “Artist Residency” in Japan, and was invited
the René Derouin Annual Symposiums.
Nathalie Levasseur is a multidisciplinary artist whose main theme
is the environment of human kind. She does sculpture,
installations, ‘in-situ’ creations, performance and multimedia.
Nathalie has taken various courses such as: using natural materials
in the forest with Domingo Cisneros, in Mont Laurier; Butoh Dance,
print-making, Japanese woodcut, performance art with Sylvie
Tourangeau, and Indonesian performers. She has learnt bamboo art in
Japan, and participated in various workshops in basket weaving,
paper making, felting, Artist-Book creation, traditional Mohawk
cutting techniques, Drum making, and photography.
Nathalie
Levasseur does installations that combine material derived from
vegetation, and the animal world, using a variety of pliable objects
such as straw, stems, animal hair, grasses, minerals and man-made
products. Through ancient methods Nathalie assembles material to
create contemporary art that unites past and present, thus
symbolising continuity. This award will enable her to continue her
artistic endeavours.
Bravo Nathalie!
