Aspria – Auberge & Grill – Ste. Adele

(visited December 2011)

This bright restaurant is decorated with white & blue chequered table-cloths and a display of photos from Greece, and the music is Greek Bouzouki.  The owners are Dimitri and Nathalie who welcome patrons to the restaurant warmly.

The name Aspria comes from Dimitri’s hometown in Greece, which he and Natalie visit annually.  Patrons are encouraged to bring their own wine!  As for the rest, leave it to Dimitri and Nathalie!  He works in the kitchen and she cheerfully serves the food.  He takes pride in preparing Greek specialties.  His Steak Aspria done in a special marinade of fine herbs is very tender.  This comes with Basmati rice, house fries, and salad as a Table d’hôtes ($25.95) which also includes a choice of soup, snails, artichoke hearts, fried eggplant, or fried zucchini, and coffee.

Dimitri has been cooking traditional Greek dishes since his school days.  He adds his own touch to almost every dish, and willingly comes to your table to share the details with those who ask.  Even his Tzaziki has his own special touch and taste, his Pikilia Santorini could be a main dinner dish; it includes shrimps and calamari too.  Dimitri actually has regular customers who come especially for his fried Calamari.  The menu includes a Souvlaki Pita for children ($8.95).

Please note:  The photo of the dish includes a piece of eggplant which I have requested,  and a small piece of the Aspria Beef Steak that Dimitri added for me to taste.

Aspria also offers lodging in their Inn with rooms and suites $79 to $99 (rate for 2 people.)  Aspria has become popular with visitors coming to the Festival J’aime Ste. Adèle, as well as the summer theatre.  Aspria, Auberge & grill: 430, Ch. Pierre-Péladeau, Ste. Adèle.  450 229-6939 www.aubergeaspria.com.
