Dance for Your Life!

This summer, some of us joined in, when dance demonstrations were offered free at the park during the St. Sauveur Arts Festival.  Oh yes!  Dancing it is hard work, but who cares when you are having fun.  There is Zumba (Zumba is danced to Latin inspired rhythmic music), Belly Dance, African Dance, Line Dance, and lots more to choose from, and if dance is not exactly your cup of tea, there are exercise programs to improve your lifestyle and well being.

Lisa McLellan (who writes a column in this paper), can help you find what is best for you.  Lisa created a complete program of fitness classes offered in Morin Heights, and Aqua-Fit (St. Sauveur), and individual private coaching.  She is a qualified “active living” specialist with a Master’s degree in Dance therapy, and thirty years teaching experience.  The autumn 2011 class program begins Sept., 19 and is on line at www.lmfitness.ca 450 530-3920.

Fusion Centre in Piedmont is open Mon., to Fri., 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sat.,-Sun., 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is Spinning, TRX, and lots more. Fusion Centre: 895 Des Laurentides Boulevard, Piedmont. www.centrefusion.ca 450 227-4494.

If Zumba is what you like … Sylvie Condrain has just moved her Fitness Factory to a new much larger dancing space at 146 route 117 in Sainte Anne Des Lacs... across the street from Golf 57! , where there are daily Zumba classes, even on Sunday.  450 224-0190 sylviecondrain@fitnessfactoryzumba.com.

Note: You can see Sylvie dressed in blue in the photo above.

Country Western Dance is another way to keep in shape.  The North American Championship which took place on Aug., 21st, in Blainville was attended by a hundred people, forty of whom competed, in dance, and choreography.  Organizer, Dany Leclerc, trains teachers and gives workshops on how to dance better in line and in couples. www.cowboynationalschool.net.

Western Dance 2009

Danny Leclerc, a dance teacher, who has turned from ballroom dance teaching to Western dance has just returned from Europe where he juried a dance competition in Denmark.  When he does not travel he oversees the site at Domaine Magaline.  This is the first time he organized such a festival with four different disciplines.  Danny himself was a cowboy.  Due to an injury he no longer performs.  However he trains teachers in Canada and abroad.  www.festivalequestredemirabel.com Domaine Magaline  7091 Montée Villeneuve, Ste.
